Questions people actually ask
Answered plainlyBidhan Sunabeda is open 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Bidhan Semiliguda 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM, every day. The sweets, namkeens and tiffin are vegetarian; Semiliguda also serves non-vegetarian main courses. Nothing is sold on this website — orders go by phone, WhatsApp, Zomato or over the counter.
Timings and outlets
What are Bidhan timings today?
Bidhan Sunabeda is open every day from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Bidhan Semiliguda is open every day from 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM. Both outlets open on public holidays. On major festival days the counters usually open earlier and stay busy; call +91 77499 77955 to confirm before travelling.
Which Bidhan outlet should I go to?
Go to Sunabeda for the original 1974 counter — sweets, standing tiffin and takeaway, from 6:00 AM. Go to Semiliguda for air-conditioned dining, full meals, biryani, tandoor and table service until 10:00 PM. Both counters sell the same sweets, made in the same kitchen.
How old is Bidhan?
Bidhan (Hotel Jaya Durga) has been running in Koraput district since 1974, which makes it just over fifty years old. It started as a small counter in Sunabeda beside the HAL township and now trades from two outlets, Sunabeda and Semiliguda.
What we make
Is Bidhan pure vegetarian?
The sweets, namkeens and tiffin are entirely vegetarian and are prepared on vegetarian equipment. The Semiliguda outlet also serves non-vegetarian main courses — chicken, mutton and egg — cooked and plated separately. Every item on the menu carries a veg or non-veg mark, so you can check before you order.
What is Bidhan famous for?
Bidhan is best known for Chhena Poda, Rasgulla and Rasabali, and for the morning tiffin at the Sunabeda counter. The savoury side — singada, bara and alu chop, fried in small batches through the day — is what most regulars come back for in the evening.
What is freshest at what time of day?
Tiffin is made from opening until about 11:00 AM. Sweets are set in the morning and are at their best the same day. Khara — singada, bara, alu chop and cutlet — is fried in batches through the afternoon and evening, so anything after about 4:00 PM comes out hot.
Is the non-vegetarian food halal?
Items sourced and prepared as halal are marked with a halal flag on the menu. If a dish is not marked, please ask at the Semiliguda counter before ordering rather than assuming either way.
Storage and shelf life
How long do Bidhan sweets keep?
Chhena-based sweets and anything in syrup should be refrigerated and eaten within about two days. Dry sweets — barfi, laddu, soan papdi, mysore pak — keep at room temperature for about four days. Namkeens keep for about three weeks in a sealed container. Every item page states its own storage and shelf life.
Which sweets travel well in a car or on a train?
Dry sweets travel best: kaju barfi, milk cake, soan papdi, mysore pak, laddu and namkeens. Syrupy sweets such as rasgulla and rasmalai leak and should only travel short distances in a sealed tin. Chhena Poda travels well for a few hours if it is kept flat and out of direct sun.
Ordering, bulk and payment
How much notice do you need for 5kg of sweets?
For up to about 5kg of a common sweet, one day of notice is usually enough. For larger quantities, mixed assortments, or anything during a festival week, give at least three days. Wedding and corporate orders should be discussed at least a week ahead on +91 77499 77955.
How do I pay?
You pay at the counter — cash, UPI or card. Nothing is sold or paid for on this website. The order slip you build here is an enquiry you show at the counter or send on WhatsApp; the price is confirmed when the order is packed.
Can I order Bidhan online?
Not from this website. You can order by phone or WhatsApp on +91 77499 77955, through Zomato for the Semiliguda outlet, or by walking up to either counter. This site is for browsing, checking timings and building an order slip to send across.
Do you take wedding and corporate orders?
Yes. Weddings, shraddha, Diwali corporate gifting and HAL township bulk orders are a regular part of the work. Tell us the headcount, the date and whether you want boxes or trays, and we will quote per kg or per box. Start on the bulk gifting page or call +91 77499 77955.
Getting here
Is there parking at Bidhan?
The Semiliguda outlet has parking beside the building, off the Vizag–Koraput road near the bus stand. At Sunabeda you park on the main road in front of the shop; it is tight in the morning rush between 8:00 and 10:00 AM.
Where should I eat between Koraput and Deomali?
Bidhan Semiliguda sits on the Vizag–Koraput road near the Semiliguda bus stand, which is the natural stop before the climb to Deomali. It has air-conditioned seating, full meals from 11:30 AM, and sweets and namkeens that pack for the drive.
