Bidhan Semiliguda is the last full-service kitchen before the climb, roughly 20 km from Koraput town and about 25 km from the Deomali summit road. It opens at 7:30 AM and serves meals from 11:30 AM.

The stops, in order

Drawn map — indicative, not to scale. Use the map links for directions.
  1. Mile marker 01

    Deomali

Odisha’s highest peak. The road up is narrow and there is nothing to eat at the top — carry food and water. Most people go up early and come down by afternoon.

  2. Mile marker 02

    Semiliguda

The junction town on the Vizag–Koraput road. Bus stand, fuel, and the Bidhan outlet with air-conditioned seating and parking.

  3. Mile marker 03

    Koraput town

District headquarters, about 20 km from Semiliguda. The Jagannath temple and the tribal museum are the usual stops.

  4. Mile marker 04

    Duduma waterfall

On the Machkund river, roughly 70 km from Semiliguda. A long half-day from either outlet, so pack food before you leave.

  5. Mile marker 05

    Sunabeda

The HAL township, about 15 km from Semiliguda. The original 1974 Bidhan counter is on the main road here and opens at 6:00 AM — the earliest breakfast in the area.

Is Bidhan Semiliguda open right now?

Semiliguda7:30 AM – 10:00 PM IST

Sunabeda6:00 AM – 8:00 PM IST

If you are driving up early, Sunabeda opens at 6:00 AM — the earliest kitchen in the area. If you are coming down in the evening, Semiliguda serves until 10:00 PM.

What survives a drive, and what does not

  • Kaju barfi and kaju kadambari — dry, firm, survive a full day in a car
  • Soan papdi and mysore pak — no syrup, no leaking
  • Milk cake and dry fruit laddu — dense, do not crumble
  • Namkeen mixture — sealed, keeps three weeks
  • Avoid rasgulla, rasmalai and rabdi on a long drive; they are syrup and they will leak
